Waukee Police Department's Safety City | Events
The final day to sign up for the Waukee Police Department’s Safety City classes will be the 9th of May, although classes may fill up before then.
Safety City classes will feature a miniature ‘City’ to help teach students correct street crossing techniques and will also offer one on one contact with volunteers during the classes.
Classes are open to children who will be attending Kindergarten in the fall of 2011 and will be held on the following dates:
- June 13th through June 17th
- June 20th through June 24th
- June 27th through July 1st
Times for classes are 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Classes will be held at the Waukee South Middle School located at 2350 SE LA Grant Parkway in Waukee.
Safety City will include classes on multiple topics including bullying, pedestrian rules, street crossing, stop lights, McGruff houses, poisons, drug abuse, bus rules, 911, fire department, respect for authority, seatbelts, bike safety, and many more.
Students who participate will receive a bicycle helmet and a t-shirt. Those who attend will also be able to visit the Waukee Police and Fire Department.
A short graduation ceremony will be featured at the end of the class for parents to attend.
