Waukee has hired Tim Moerman as the new city administrator.
The 55 year old was previously an assistant city manager for the City of Ankeny is set to start on February 18th.
The Waukee City Council unanimously approved Moerman’s contract by a vote of 5-0 Thursday.
“Tim Moerman comes to the City of Waukee with more than 25 years of professional local government experience with emphasis in City Management and Economic Development.” A press release said.
“Moerman has served in several communities throughout Iowa including Jefferson, Sibley, Dubuque, Mason City, and most recently, the City of Ankeny as Assistant City Manager overseeing special projects and economic development. Moerman received his undergraduate degrees in Business Administration and Accounting from Dordt College and later a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Iowa State University.”
According to the Des Moines Register, Moerman’s approved salary will be $132,000 prorated through the rest of the city’s fiscal year. At the start of the July 1st fiscal year, his salary will rise slightly to $134,000 with a car allowance of $400 per month.
Previous city administrator Jeff Kooistra resigned in May 2012, receiving a severance package which continued his $122,300 annual salary for six months and insurance for four months.
