Waukee Cub Scouts are doing their bit in preparation for summer on Saturday replacing 20 picnic tables at Walnut Woods State Park.
Working towards their world conservation badge, Waukee’s Pack 181 will begin assembling the tables at 8 a.m. with help form a $750 value donation of wood from Lowe’s Jordan Creek Store.
“This project worked out nicely. Campers can enjoy the new tables and the boys will take another step toward their achievement,” said Rob Paulson, scout leader for Den 6. “We had a great partner in the Lowe’s Jordan Creek store who made this project possible with their donation.”
Located in West Des Moines, Walnut Woods campground is one of the most popular in the state since being built in the 1930s.
